Apoyo Integral Inversiones acquires Mexico's Semisol microfinance
By Nagesh Narayana Microfinance Focus, Dec. 16, 2009: Apoyo Integral Inversiones, a microfinance investment company in Central America, has acquired acquired a controlling interest in the Mexican MFI Semisol, last October, through a buy-out of  “Investisseur & Partenaire pour le dévéloppement”, said a statement. Impulse Microfinance Investment Fund is shareholder of Apoyo Integral Inversiones, a microfinance investment company in Central America.  Since 2008 Apoyo Integral Inversiones is major shareholder of the leading  MFI in El Salvador, Apoyo Integral. In order to set up a network of MFIs in the region of South Mexico and Central America, using the operational know how of Apoyo Integral, El Salvador, Apoyo Integral bought the equity stake in Semisol, said the statement. Apoyo Integral is a French  NGO specializing in coaching MFIs in management and in finance. Semisol is active in the South of Mexico, with its main office in Tapachula. It has  8,000 clients with 6 branches. The investment in Semisol is the second transaction of Apoyo Integral Inversiones, and another potential investment in the region is currently being studied, said the statement without giving further details.
