INDIA's FICCI is organizing a conference on health insurance on July 10.
The focus of this year's conference is to exchange information on issues like identification of guidelines for hospitalization, standardization of critical illness definitions, standardization of list of excluded (non-medical) expenses in hospital indemnity policy and to explore the ways of insurance penetration in the country, especially among the rural poor.
FICCI, through its Insurance Sub-Group comprising senior representatives of the healthcare and insurance companies, is targeting among others, MFI's, micro insurance institutions, non-banking financial corporations (NBFCs) to participate in the conference.
"Although, health insurance has recently seen several positive developments which are clearly reflected in the significant growth of the sector in last two years, there is no room for complacency. The road to achieve universal health insurance coverage is long. Lack of consumer awareness & satisfaction, claim settlement issues, need for standardization of services provided & understanding between the health care providers and health insurance companies, lack of product innovation etc are some of the issues of concern. There is a strong need to make the health Insurance a viable business proposition through better understanding between healthcare providers and health insurance companies," said the company in a statement.
