Partnerships among governments, financial and social services providers, and other businesses hold great potential for catalyzing the next great wave of movement out of severe poverty. To promote these partnerships, the Microcredit Summit Campaign and Microfinance Council of the Philippines, Inc., with the sponsorship of the Central Bank of the Philippines, will host a Microcredit Summit focused on the theme Partnerships against Poverty: Government, Business, Finance, and Civil Society.

This year’s 2013 Partnerships against Poverty Summit is shaping up to be a very important event for influencing the future direction of the microfinance and financial inclusions movements. The conference will begin with appeals from world leaders, including Nobel Peace Prize laureate Muhammad Yunus to help make microfinance part of the movement in the next set of Millennium Development Goals to end severe poverty by 2030. Delegates will then have opportunities through the plenary sessions and workshops to explore the different roles that microfinance institutions, banks, payment providers, regulators, policy makers, and social development organizations can play in partnership to help in the process of ending severe poverty.
The 2013 Summit will bring together industry leaders like the following:
• Practitioners like Grameen Bank, BRAC, Fundación Capital, and more
• Representatives from funders like the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Asian Development Bank, and the Arab Gulf Program for Development Government (AGFUND)
• Officials from agencies like Philippines’ Department of Social Welfare and Development and the Central Bank of the Philippines

The organizers also offer pre-Summit events (for an additional fee) on Monday, October 7th and Tuesday, October 8th for those interested in engaging in intensive Day-Long Courses or getting hands-on experience with Filipino MFIs with Field Visits .
